This listing is for one extra large, museum quality Saffordite from Arizona, USA. Saffordites of this size are seldom found at all, let alone with such pristine texture and surface. This beautiful piece is like holding a dragons egg. It has intricate surface texture, with very little mineralization, beautiful patterned grooves/craters, and almost no imperfections/weathering. This amazing Cintamani is quite translucent for its size. When illuminated the interior glows a beautiful fiery amber. The whole stone is translucent, but difficult to fully illuminate due to its size/ thickness. The photos that are backlit are taken with a small cellphone flashlight. Larger portions of the stone will illuminate more with larger surface area/ more intense back lighting. The over all clarity, texture, and perfect shape alone give this stone top marks, but in combination with its size, this is truly a museum quality specimen. This piece is one of the best and largest stones we have had yet to date. The high quality interior clarity is rarely found in stones this size. This dragon egg like Saffordite has a particular energy of its own. It is a marvel to hold, and sits heftily in the palm of your hand(s). A triple A' quality stone, that would be amazing for meditation or healing, and is a true one-of-a-kind collectors piece.

The origins of this Arizona Desert Glass are still being debated. Some view these as tektites. Others theorize they are the most ancient remnants of terrestrial obsidian from lava flows or 'Grandfather Volcanoes'. The community all agree however, that it is some of the oldest natural glass remaining on the planet (some estimate 35 million years old). They exhibit many of the characteristics know to impactites and even appear to have lechatelierite deposits as well. We continue to research these amazing stones to learn more about their storied past. Regardless of their origin they are both beautiful, mysterious, and rare.
