When something truly touches the soul it ripples through all time- in both the memory of the past and the dream of the future. When something speaks to those deep places within ourselves, we have no choice but to answer...
Grant's journey began with a childhood facination for rocks, artifacts, and findings. Many summers were spent searching his grandfathers farm fields for arrow heads and creek beds for banded agates or fossils. His childhood wonder and facination grew into a drive to learn and collect more.
By the time Grant was a teenager he was enacting his first business plans. His passion for music and love of rocks paved the avenue, meeting new people and seeing the bands he loved... all accompanied by some cool mineral specimens to trade and sell.
Grant and I met in college, our first year... ironically in geology class. Grant studied geology and gemology in college, all the while growing his collection, creating networks, touring to see music, and shareing the knowledge and joy of crystals with those he met.
It became quite evident that crystals have the ability to inspire our imagination, creativity, and desire for connection. Grant acknowledged this amazing tool and his role to play in the process. This pushed him to create an online environment where he could share these amazing insruments of nature with people all over the world...
Around 2008 Crystal Encryptions was born.
What is in a name?
The name Crystal Encryptions is a play on the physical (and metaphysical) geometric etchings within the crystal lattice, and the use of crystals in informations technology. It came from a brain storming session we had based on what originally sparked us on our path- Lemurian quartz.
These were some of the original crystals that Grant collected which truly sparked a flame of spiritual discovery. More than facinating earth made art, these crystals were different. I remember clearly the glimmer in Grant's eye as he showed me his original Lemurian Seeds. The cases opened, and what upon first glance looked ordinary revealed an array of sensory experience. Their lined textures, record keeper markings, and unique formations boggled my mind. Grant explained the lore behind them. That they were buried crystals, said to hold the knowledge of an ancient civilization. This amazing story and the crystals themselves gave me such a sense of curiousity and wonder. Upon doing a little research I found that quartz is used in much of our technology today, from watches, to computers, to scientific instruments. We find this to be a perfect example of how minerals and crystals play a pivotal role in the human story in both relms of mind and matter.
In general, minerals are the crystaline maniefestations of elements and compounds- the very building blocks of the universe.
Regardless of personal beliefs, they have inspired the human sense of beauty and wonder for millenia. They fuel scientific developments, jewlery, culture, and art. They are the raw materials of the universe and instruments of connection- facillitating and building the world around us.
